If you can now join us for Mega Shabbat due to other plans being canceled because of the weather, please see the schedule below. There is a cost for some of our events. Payment can be made on the honor system after the weekend.

February 26th - 27th, 2010


A festive fundraiser for Shabbat programs. A warm, inviting, traditional Shabbat experience for alum, parents, faculty/staff and community along with students.

Stony Brook University Hillel

Friday, February 26th:  5:00 special candle lighting and poetry reading (Stony Brook Union Ballroom); 5:30 choice of 3 services (Check in in the ballroom where the rooms are posted); 6:30 four course catered meal and FABULOUS comical entertainment provided by

comedian Brad Zimmerman; former opener for George Carlin and Joan Rivers.**

**Dinner is $5 for students; $26 for spouses of students; $54 for young alum; $72 general admission. 

Saturday, Febrary 27th:  9:30 AM services; 12:30 Lunch and the Great Latke Hamentashen Debate featuring Rabbi Joseph Topek and Dr. Ira Rezak debating over which treat is better!

Lunch is FREE for students and $36 for guests.

Saturday Evening:  5:30 PM light meal (Delancey Street, students and guests only), 6:40 PM Maariv (Union 249) Megillah Reading (Mixed Seating) Union Commons, 8:00 PM Purim Carnival, Union Ballroom & The Stony Brook Philharmonic, Staller Center**

 

**Purim Carnival is FREE and includes 4 real carnival games with prizes, an inflatable jousting booth (age appropriate), cotton candy and hamentashen, costume contest with prizes, crafts and music. Additional carnival food available in Delancey Street for:  $8 adults/students (payable on meal card or cash).  $5 children.

 

The concert is a donor recognition evening for those who have contributed more than $85.
