Directions to Stony Brook University and the Gloria and Mark Snyder Hillel Center

By Car:
Take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) to Exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) NORTH for approx. 9 miles. The MAIN entrance to the University is the 2nd University entrance on the LEFT or the 3rd traffic light after the Route 347 intersection. (The 1st University entrance is the South Entrance). Note, in addition to 3 traffic lights, there is a blinking light infront of the firehouse that is only used in certain situations.
    OR
Take the Grand Central Parkway through Queens. This will turn into Northern State Parkway in Nassau County. Follow the NSP until the parkway ends, which will be in Hauppauge. After a few lights the road will SPLIT – BEAR LEFT on Route 347. Follow 347 for several miles, and you will see the Smithhaven Mall on your right. The 4th light after the mall is Nicolls Road, Route 97. You will see signs that say Stony Brook and State University. Turn LEFT at Nicolls Road (Rt. 97). The main entrance to the University is the 2nd University entrance on the LEFT (3rd traffic light on Nicolls Rd).

To the Snyder Hillel Center (Located in the Stony Brook Student Union Bldg):

(note, we are located in the Stony Brook Union; not the Student Activities Center)
Turn Left into campus at the Main Entrance and proceed to the light. Turn RIGHT onto Circle Road. At the 2nd Stop Sign (Stadium Rd) turn LEFT. Follow the road as it curves around behind the dorms. When it ends, turn RIGHT and enter the parking lot. The Student Union bldg is to the LEFT if you are facing the Stadium. In front of the Union is a Metered Parking Lot. The Snyder Hillel Center is located in Suite 201 of the Interfaith Center, on the 2nd Floor. Walk through the lobby to the other side, you will see Double Doors on your right. Go through the double doors and stairs are on the immediate left. At top of stairs proceed down the hallway to Suite 201.

Parking: Use the metered lot directly behind the Union building or contact susan.kelly@stonybrook.edu in advance with your car make, model and license plate number in order to arrange parking accomodations.

For Deliveries: use the loading dock entrance at the rear of the building, take the stairs to the 2nd floor, turn right on the tiled hallway to the Hillel Office.

By Train:  
Take the Long Island Rail Road’s (LIRR) Port Jefferson Line to Stony Brook. The train station is at the north end of the campus and free bus service throughout campus is provided, with buses running on the ½ hour. Take Bus #3-D to the Union Building stop.

Walking Directions from LIRR:
Debark train and go to campus side of tracks. Cross over parking lot to sidewalk on Circle Drive. Look for a large rock at beginning of walking path (to your left when passing the street). Take this path across the athletic fields until the Stadium Parking fields. Turn to right and follow path in front of Stadium. After passing Stadium, follow path to the Left to the rear of the Union Bldg. Enter Union Bldg. through the  rear Lobby Entrance doors. Take elevator or stairs to 2nd floor to Suite 201 Snyder Hillel Center.
