The Dr. Edward Podolnick Memorial Jewish Student Leadership Development Fund was established in memory of the founding Director of the University Counseling Center.  Continued donations come from long time Board Member and friend, Diana Podolnick.  If you are interested in attending a leadership conference and can demonstrate that you have utilized other resources for funding, please contact us for further financial assistance.

Below is a list of financial assistance opportunities NOT run through Hillel.

The American Jewish League for Israel (AJLI) offers scholarships for a full year of study in Israel (no short term summer ulpan or nativ type programs). The scholarships can be for a graduate or undergraduate program at one of nine universities in Israel; Bar Ilan, Ben Gurion, Haifa, Hebrew, Interdisciplinary Center-Recanati School, Pardes, Tel Aviv, Technion and Weizmann. Acceptance at one of the universities is a prerequisite.We do not provide for other institutions or independent programs in Israel. One must be a US citizen to apply. You must apply by May 1, 2010 for the '10-11 school year. There is no age restriction for our scholarships. Required forms to complete and submit can be found on our website at www.americanjewishleague.org

The JVS Scholarship Fund of the Jewish Vocational Service Agencies offers scholarships (amounts vary) as well as interest-free loans. www.jvsnj.org

The JCCs of North America Graduate Scholarship Program offers full-time students majoring in select subjects $10,000 so long as they agree to work for a JCC after graduation. www.jcca.org

The Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America offers educational grants of $500–$1,000 to high school seniors who are direct descendants of members. www.jwv.org

Hebrew Free Loan Society  is your one stop shopping for interest free loans and scholarships.There are scholarships for students in the sciences, Jewish women, social sciences and more. Please check out their website at  http://www.hfls.org/

The Hebrew Loan Society offers interest-free loans of up to $7,500 per year. Eligibility varies regionally. www.freeloan.org

The Jewish Educational Loan Fund (JELF) provides need-based “last-dollar” loans to Jewish students from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. www.jelf.org

The Jewish Free Loan Association offers loans up to $2,500/year (up to $3,000/year for grad students) to residents of Southern California; loans for Israel Experience programs are also available. www.jfla.org/loans

The Torat Revat Fellowship offers College Graduates between the ages of 21-26 an opportunity to study in a Modern Orthodox Midrasha for Women in Jerusalem for the 2010-2011 Academic Year for ONLY $2,000!* (students must be North American and not have participated in an organized program in Israel since 2004, Cost includes classes on both religious topics as well as cultural topics such as archeology.  Daily lunch provided.
