What is your favorite Hillel memory?

Every moment at Hillel has really been incredible for me. But as far as my favorite one, it would have to be when I walked in on transfer student day and I was welcomed with open arms by everyone! It was so amazing to know that I was accepted right off the bat after not knowing what to expect, and it has made me want to continue to help provide that to new students that come to explore our club!

Andrew Goldstein

Secretary

The members of the Stony Brook Hillel deserve a secretary who is responsible, accurate, and able to work with the executive board. As a Student of Journalism it is my duty to take notes and communicate information to the public.

As a member of the board, I have advertised events, organized events such as the Murder Mystery Shabbaton and the Sophisticated Shabbaton, been present in many of the religious activities and engaged students in thoughtful religious discussions.

I hope to be able to serve my peers by preparing more programs, like study events, taking notes and advertising programs to the highest extent. I want to see Hillel flyers across campus and Hillel events in the SBLife Emails.

I'm a senior Applied Math and Statistics major preparing for a career as an actuary. On campus I am in the WISE Honors program and involved in various academic clubs including the Stony Brook Computing Society, Women in Computer Science, and the Organization of Actuarial Students. I have been attending Hillel events throughout my three years at Stony Brook so far and am now part of the board as a member at large. Although I am not Jewish, Hillel has come to mean a to me as a place of inclusion and support. I hope to add to the diversity of the members and see its presence on campus flourish.

Expected Graduation: Spring 2017

Major: Computer Science and Applied Mathmatics

I am a fifth year here at Stony Brook, majoring in Linguistics, Pre-Med, minoring in Judaic Studies. From my first step on campus freshman year, Hillel has become my home. It has been a part of my life since before I even came to the University (I was trying to get involved while I was still in Israel on my gap year!).

I hope to see you at a Shabbaton, or a social program, or maybe in the Hillel office, and get to know you and become great friends. I hope Hillel will be your home, the way it is mine.
