Hillel uses a philosophy known as engagement to connect with students and help that have experiences that are personally meaningful. Engagement is the act of reaching others, getting to know them, and connecting with them on the basis of their interests, ambitions, and passions. Hillel works to engage all Jewish students, seeking first to understand them, and then to identify common interests, offerings, or experiences that meet them where they are.
With a focus on relationships and not on participation, we create vibrant, relevant, Jewish life across campus, enhancing the accessibility of Jewish experiences for all students through conversations with peers.
We currently offer several internships at Stony Brook Hillel that allow you be an integral part of our leadership team. Past interns have found these experiences to be a transformative part of their college experience. Hiring takes place in April and appointments are for the following academic year.
Current internship opportunities include:
The Soroff Israel Fellowship
The Soroff Fellow works alongside Stony Brook Hillel's Jewish Agency Israel Fellow, to recruit students to participate in Israel travel and study programs
The Peer Network Engagement Internship
The team of four extraordinary students will work to enliven Jewish student life by creating and fostering meaningful relationships with students in their individual networks.
