Religious Exemption Policy

The University is committed to ensuring that every student will have the right to pursue their education while practicing their faith. The Religious Exemption Policy covers all Yom Tov days, but does not cover travel before or after holidays. Students are required to alert their professors of any religious conflict before the final date of the ‘add/drop’ period. While students will be excused from any classes covered by the policy, they are still responsible for all work. For a complete list of holidays and more information, visit the Provost's website. Students may download this letter to give to this professor each semester. For a list of holidays, their explanations, and dates for the next five years, download this one-pager for more information!

Eruv

There is an eruv that surrounds the entire Stony Brook campus and much of the surrounding community. It is checked weekly by the rabbi of the Stony Brook Hebrew Congregation. For information on the eruv and a map, click here. If you have questions about the status of the eruv, please contact StonyBrookHC@gmail.com
